Editorial Internship Positions

As an editorial assistant, your key role is gathering information, writing news stories, and presenting news in a compelling and balanced manner. 

You will need a sharp nose for news and are adept at spotting trending/viral content across social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok. 

If you’re social media savvy and love to tell stories, you could be the right fit for MSN’s editorial assistant position.


  • You have a strong command of English and can articulate your points concisely and coherently when writing 
  • You can write well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • You can cope with the demands of a fast-paced newsroom 
  • You regularly monitor social media feeds to gather trending news topics

Editorial Fulltime Positions

Subeditor / Editor

You will need a journalistic spirit and a keen eye for trending content. You are an expert in writing and editing fast to push out timely news. You prize ensuring balance and accuracy in news reporting. 

You will mainly be in charge of: 

  • Managing a team of seasoned and new writers
  • Creating content to grow brand awareness and make social impact 
  • Editing, assigning and writing news stories
  • Executing branded content pieces & manage campaigns when required 
  • Managing social media platforms


  • You have at least 3  and 5 years of editorial experience in the media industry, depending on if you are applying for the subeditor or editor role.
  • You can perform well under pressure to meet deadlines 
  • You are experienced in project and people management and are proactive in troubleshooting and solving problems
  • You have a sharp eye for detail and a nose for news 
  • You stay up-to-date with current events and are active on social media, e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok
  • Bonus: You are willing to work irregular hours (night shift, weekends)

As a video producer, you have a creative mind and a penchant for storytelling. You are serious about your work but you know the value of MEMEs and how sometimes, certain stories are better told through humour.

You have experience in filming and editing and feel passionate about producing content that will impact Singapore society.

Video Internship Positions


As a video producer on MSN, you will assist your supervisor in conceptualising, filming and editing social-first videos. This could range from newsworthy events from highlights of a CEO's umbrage to meme clips to more complicated videos breaking down topics like “How much does the NDP cost taxpayers?”.

You'll also pitch and produce videos that can make a positive difference in society. An example of this is how we raised awareness for visually impaired people in Singapore, letting the mainstream public know the difficulties they face and how they should be treating them and their guide dogs in public spaces.   • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro & After Effects 
  • Strong interest in local profiles, documentaries & explainers
  • Basic production knowledge from storyboarding to filming and editing a coherent narrative 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with profiles from all walks of life 
  • Critical thinker - ability to pitch potentially viral stories and execute them effectively.

Video Fulltime Positions

Video Editor

The videos on MS News greatly supplement the editorial content we run. Some of the video formats we offer are live streaming and AMAs, both of which have featured promiment politicians and other important people in Singapore. You need a good understanding of news as you will tackle dialogues on social issues and a self-starter mentality is crucial for success in this role. 

You will need to: 

  • Handle pre-production - independently ideate and lead video production projects to fruition 
  • Create video content regularly like meme videos, stitching videos, documentaries, etc
  • Try different video editing techniques and trending styles


  • You have at least 2 years of video production experience and are skilled in videography and camera handling 
  • You have an interest in news and working knowledge of social media platforms 
  • You have experience with using video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects 
  • You can work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines 
  • You are interested in meeting new people, learning their stories, and portraying them in the best way possible in videos
