About the role…
This senior manager level candidate will lead the teams within SEA region and drive the company’s growth primarily in Malaysia (with the coverage expanding to Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia thereafter). Working towards the development and implementation of business strategies in order to attain business growth and financial targets, you will lead all operations to ensure the profitability of the businesses and have a direct influence on the performance of both content and sales teams.
You are a leader who has an eye for data analysis and is able to transform these insights to engage both our target audience and clients. You understand what clients need and is able to identify the best type of content that will help them achieve their goals. You have a track record of internal and external stakeholder management and have success in aligning external stakeholders with in-house styles/guidelines while helping them meet their own commercial objectives.
What you will do:
- Fully understand the external competitive landscape for Malaysia’s new media industry and devise strategies for growth in both readership and customer acquisition
- Grow our readership across the site and increase our following on social media channels by working closely with the content teams
- Networking with potential clients and developing meaningful relationships with them in order to establish TSL in Malaysia as a leading new media publication
- Working closely with the sales team to develop proposals that align with the client’s overall strategy and objectives
- Ensuring proposals produced are of the highest quality and in line with company standards
- Motivating the team to strive for quality work and growth for the title
- Reporting data and insights to the Singapore HQ periodically while staying up-to-date with social and media industry trends, technologies and best practices
- Ability to drive regional business strategy
The successful candidate should have:
- Background in the media industry, with proven social media expertise
- Proven role in a business director capacity within a company within a strong commercial focus
- Minimum 8 years of experience managing teams and building relationships with stakeholders to drive performance and growth of a the team
- Native understanding of Malaysian culture
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively pitch ideas to clients, and check the quality of work from the content teams on an ad hoc basis
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform and optimize campaign strategy
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, or a related field
- Current with the latest news/trends/happenings in Malaysia and other SEA countries, and passionate about social media and online content
